About the role
Reporting to the Venue Management Team, the Arena Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Games Arena at the Gladiators Experience at the Birmingham NEC.
A key operational role, the Arena Supervisor will ensure the successful delivery of all arena-based activities, coordinating the warm-up area, live games and queuing operations to deliver a seamless, safe and high-energy experience for all participants.
The Arena Supervisor will oversee a team of Games Supervisors across core attractions, ensuring alignment with operational, safety and commercial objectives while driving high performance standards to provide an engaging, inclusive and memorable guest experience.
Responsibilities
Ensure all activity zones including the warm-up area, live games and queuing areas are fully operational and show-ready
Oversee and coordinate a team of Games Supervisors responsible for key attractions including Duel, The Wall, Hang Tough, The Eliminator and Unleash, ensuring consistent delivery standards across all zones
Oversee team deployment and break rotations ensuring proper coverage in all areas to maintain safe and efficient operations
Monitor and manage queue flow, wait times and guest movement to maximise throughput while maintaining a safe and positive customer experience
Assist with operational issues, guest concerns or safety matters within the arena, resolving challenges quickly and effectively
Follow and advise on Health and Safety procedures to ensure all games are operated in full compliance with risk assessments, safety procedures and audit requirements
Support the delivery of commercial objectives by optimising session capacity to minimise downtime between games
Following instruction from the Venue manager and Assistant Venue Manager, brief the team on show needs to maintain exceptional customer service and consistent brand delivery
Guide and motivate teams during live operations to deliver an energetic, engaging and memorable experience for every participant
About you
ESSENTIAL
Experience as Venue Supervisor, or Operations Coordinator preferably within a large capacity venue or within the events industry
Demonstrable experience coordinating multi - disciplinary teams in high pressure and live operating environments
Proven ability to assist management teams in high customer throughput environments
Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate teams
Effective communication skills both written and verbal
Strong understanding of the importance of following H&S procedures
Clear, confident communicator, both written and verbal
Passionate about delivering high quality customer service with a strong customer focus approach
Flexible availability with the ability to be on-site for all events including on evenings and weekends
DESIRABLE
Experience with participatory or physical interactive attractions
Experience supervising teams on family focussed events
Rate
Rate dependent on experience and will be discussed at the offer stage.
Any sickness, holiday or any other absence will be taken as unpaid leave and will be deducted from this monthly figure, based on a pro rata figure.
Agreement Type & Length
Freelance agreement until the end of August 2026.
Applicants will need to be available across the below periods, working on a rotating shift basis in line with live show days.
Onsite training will be between 24th April – 1st May
Live show dates will be from 1st May 2026 through June and July and run until the end of August.
Live show days increase during Spring Bank Holiday and from mid July through to the end of August, with shifts rotating across the week (including weekends and evenings)

Onsite working days will be carried out at the NEC Arena in Birmingham.
Please note that accommodation is not provided, therefore applicants must be local to Birmingham or have accommodation available to them throughout the duration of the agreement.
Working Hours
Onsite hours vary in length but are generally 8:30am – 18:45pm (this will also include weekends)
